At Nelson School communication between parents and teachers is critical for student success.
To that end, we utilize a multitude of ways to share information and keep you informed of what is happening at school.
is one effective tool to communicate with Nelson staff members. Each
Nelson staff member has access to a computer and is expected to check
their e-mail on a daily basis. When e-mailing a staff member begin by
typing the first letter of the staff member's name, then their last
name, followed by 'sau29.org'. Example: 'email@example.com'. You may also
access each staff member's e-mail address through the list on the Faculty & Staff page.
The office is staffed from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm daily. Should you have to call
earlier or later, please leave a message on the answering machine and we
will respond to your call as soon as we are able.
Please know that teachers are quite busy
throughout the instructional day working directly with your children.
Should you need to talk to your child's classroom teacher, please keep
in mind that during the school day, the teacher's primary responsibility
is the classroom and classroom instruction will not be interrupted
except in the case of an emergency. If your call is of an emergency
nature, please let us know and we will make sure that your message is
Parent Teacher Conferences and Progress Reports
The Nelson School staff shares student progress with parents three times
per year at parent teacher conferences. The first recommended parent
teacher conference to discuss your child's progress is held in December.
The second scheduled conference is in March, and the last conference is
a portfolio conference which is led by your child and is held in early
June. If additional conferences are needed, they may be initiated by
either the parent or teacher.
